Finding the Perfect Injectable Dermal Fillers for Your Age-Defying Needs
Did you know that injectable dermal fillers are the second most popular minimally-invasive cosmetic procedure in the U.S.? According to annual statistics put together by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, more than 3 million dermal injection filler treatments were performed in 2020.
Naples-based Tru Glō Medspa can certainly vouch for the popularity of dermal fillers, given that they are among the most frequently requested treatments at our southwest Florida medical spa. Their popularity makes sense because fillers effectively replace the loss of volume that occurs in our skin due to aging. The natural thinning of our skin emphasizes existing skin imperfections and creates new lines, creases, and wrinkles. Dermal fillers help replace the skin’s lost volume to diminish the appearance of age-related imperfections naturally.
Tru Glō Medspa offers its southwest Florida-area clients five different injectable dermal fillers. These fillers are put together from different formulations that provide skin with varying textures, density, volume, and other skin-enhancing features to address specific areas of concern. To give you a better idea of how these dermal fillers can help you achieve your aesthetic goals, we’ve highlighted their primary attributes below.
Our Newest Addition—Revance RHA®
With FDA approval in 2020, Revance RHA® is the first and only hyaluronic acid filler on the market that specifically treats dynamic wrinkles and folds. Dynamic wrinkles and folds emerge over time through the constant movements and micro-movements your facial muscles make to laugh, smile, frown, talk, squint or otherwise express yourself. Revance RHA® was developed because traditional fillers are too stiff to work with natural facial movements. When using traditional fillers to treat dynamic signs of aging, they can look unnatural, especially when making facial expressions.
Revance RHA®, which mimics the natural hyaluronic acid in your skin, moves naturally with facial expressions. The formulation also provides hyaluronic acid properties that further enhance volume, structure, and moisturization. Revance RHA® comes in three different strengths to address the varying severity of dynamic wrinkles and folds.
Fill Different Volume Loss Needs with Juvéderm®
Like many of the most popular injectable dermal fillers, Juvéderm® uses hyaluronic acid as its primary active ingredient. Not only does hyaluronic acid attract and retain moisture, but researchers believe it also stimulates the body’s natural production of collagen, which further enhances skin firmness and elasticity. The Juvéderm® collection includes five different formulations that have FDA approval to target distinct skin volume-loss needs. The different Juvéderm® formulations are for:
- Plumping lips and smooth the appearance of vertical lip lines.
- Reducing the appearance of nasolabial folds (parentheses lines).
- Decreasing the appearance of severe facial wrinkles around the nose and mouth.
- Filling in tear troughs and reduce the appearance of under-eye dark circles.
Target Laugh, Marionette, and Smile Lines with Restylane®
As the first FDA-approved hyaluronic acid formulation in dermal fillers, Restylane® was originally approved to reduce the appearance of medium depth wrinkles, for instance laugh, marionette, and smile lines around the nose and mouth. The Restylane® gel formulation is thinner than that used in most other fillers that followed, but the filler remains one of the most popular on the market. Since its original 2003 FDA approval, it has received additional clearance to treat severe wrinkles, lips, scars, and volume loss on the back of the hands.
Radiesse® Adds Volume to Your Face and Hands
Radiesse® is formulated with synthetic calcium hydroxyapatite microspheres in a water-based gel. The substance offers immediate volume-filling properties. It is believed to stimulate natural collagen production for up to two years for enhanced, longer-lasting results. Radiuses® is primarily for adding lift and volume to:
- Pre-jowl folds
- Marionette lines
- Smile lines
- The corners of the mouth
- Back of hands
Sculptra® – the “Facelift Without the Surgery”
The polylactic acid active ingredient in Sculptra® also stimulates collagen production to provide longer-lasting results. The filler helps restore facial volumes and reduce the look of shallow to deep nasolabial lines. Similar to Radiesse®, the body naturally breaks down and absorbs the active ingredient over time. However, its collagen-building properties help extend the duration of the added volume.
